Handmade batik from Pekalongan, Central Java with cranes and lotus. The batik is influenced by European designs, which is also a form of orientalism, adoption of eastern motif. The pieces was sent to Palembang for application of prada, gold leaf. Here the gold leaf is only applied to the lower part of the sarong which is customary.

Made for chinese market in Java. Also referred to as Empat Negeri (Four Nations) because of its 4 colours. The soga or brown colour, its background motif as well as ukel or hook pattern show Javanese influence. The fauna and the buketan or bouquets of flower show Noarth Coast influence.
